The Audubon Wellfleet Sanctuary doubled its nature center to provide increased exhibit, staff, and educational facilities. In 2008, the United States Green Building Council awarded its highest rating (LEED Platinum) of green construction, making this the only such building on Cape Cod. This is a premier example of Audubon's commitment to preserve the environment. Features include PV solar arrays, rainwater re-use, daylighting, natural ventilation, cool roofing, low emitting local materials and rapidly renewable products.
